"Fighting The Villain" Interview.

Hey there readers,

Exciting news!!

As you may have known, I have been in the process of interviewing the 5-piece band from California, USA, by the name of "Fighting the Villain" for a while now, but now the interview is ready to be posted!!! (Exciting, I know.)

The Band: (from left to right) Cisco-Guitarist, Caitlyn Mae-Vocalist, Danny-Drummer, Miguel-Guitarist and Will-Bassist.

Me: "What inspired you to form the band?"
Caitlyn Mae: "We have all shared a passion to play music. Although I did not start the band, we all wanted to be in a band and we all eventually came together."

Me: "Did you all know each other prior to forming the band?"
Caitlyn Mae: "Danny, Cisco and Miguel went to high school together and I met Cisco (who was looking for a vocalist) through a friend, and eventually Will came later as he was looking for a serious and dedicated band to join."

Me: "How did you come up with the name "Fighting the Villain"?"
Caitlyn Mae: "Miguel came up with the name "Fighting the Villain" from our favourite video game "Final Fantasy".

Me: "Do you all have a favourite song, that you have produced?"
Caitlyn Mae: "I think I can speak for all of us when I say our favourite song that we have recorded (which is currently un-realeased) is called "The Great Charlatan". We can all relate to the emotions that this song stirs up."

Me: "How do you go about writing new songs?"
Caitlyn Mae: "The writing process is like putting together the most epic story we can possibly think of. Everyone adds their own piece to it."

Me: "Who/what are you major influences?"
Caitlyn Mae: "Our fans, family, friends and other musicians. We love "Circa Survive", "Coheed and Cambria" and "Pierce the Veil" to name a few influences."

Me: "What is the best piece of advice you have all been given?"
Caitlyn Mae: "The best advice we have gotten would be to never give up on your dreams no matter the circumstance. We do not wish to go on living our lives [with] 'what if's'."

Me: "What is one piece of advice you would give to your listeners?"
Caitlyn Mae: "Always work hard at what you love."

Me: "What is a typical day in the lives of a 'Fighting the Villain' band member?"
Caitlyn Mae: "Our lives are not easy. We are definitely one of those bands that have had to work hard for everything we have gotten. There are many bands that have had everything handed to them, and we are still paying our dues. So hard. (Laughs) but we will never give up, which is why I love being in "Fighting the Villain." Its amazing being with a group of people that I can relate to so strongly and share the same dream with. We are all on the same page, and most bands DON'T have that. Which is why I believe we will become what we wish. We are all very poor. I don't want anyone to think we are rich. We all have "jobs" that we hate to help raise money for what we really want to do. We all have to quit our jobs to go on tour, and risk not paying bills, dropping out of school, being with significant others, missing out on family things, etc. But to us it's totally worth it. We have fans that believe in us and the only thing we want in the world is to be able to meet every single one of them because without them, without their support we would have nothing. They keep our dream alive."

Me: "Where do you see yourselves, and the band, in 5 years time?"
Caitlyn Mae: "I see us touring on a good label and being happy!"

Me: "Are there any annoying habits that other band members have, while on the road?"
Caitlyn Mae: "We all get pissed off at each other on the road but it is only temporary. We all know how to say sorry. Honestly we all love each other and have kind of figured out what exactly pushes one another's buttons. All the guys are pretty dirty and talk about gross stuff. (Laughs)."

Me: "What is the most memorable moment for you all?"
Caitlyn Mae: "We share many many memorable moments, one being the first time we played the Knitting Factory in Reno. It was a sold out show and was just amazing!."

I would like to thank "Fighting the Villain" for making the time to be interviewed for my blog, and taking the time to work with just a beginner and someone who is basically unknown, in the blogging world. An extended thank you, to Caitlyn Mae, for sitting through the interview and answering all the questions, not only in the interview, but also throughout the process of setting the interview up!
THANKS GUYS! <3

Remember, if you did like this post, and would like to see more-or have a say, feel free to comment questions, comments, and the like, and I will get back to you. Likewise, if you wish to get into contact with the band, you can contact me, and I will put you in contact with them.

Well, that is all for now folks. If you have liked this interview, please do yourself a favor and check out the "Fighting the Villain" You-tube page on this link... http://www.youtube.com/user/FTVbayarea

Upcoming: Studio Arts Presentation 1 - Photography.

Hello there,

Just a little sneak peek at an up-and-coming post, for all you little readers out there.

As part of my Studio Arts studies, I have been exploring the concept of 'Identity and Belonging', however, I tailored my theme around masquerade and masks. You may have seen some of my earlier work and photographs on here, a while back.

Well, after countless hours of work both spent on my portfolio, and my 3 presentations, I have finally held the last photo shoot, and handed in all my work.

So, as a conclusion to the photo shoot, and topic, I will be posting a few of my favourite photos from this shoot, in the coming days!

Stay tuned! :)

Sneak peek? Hmm..?

Hey there readers,

My apologies for the recent absenteeism from the world of blogs, but once again, I am back feeling refreshed and very inspired.

During my latest reality kick, I haven't been focusing as much on finding topics to write about, and it comes as no surprise that something has popped up and presented an opportunity, which might just be the break through that both the subject in question, and I need.

Upon hearing the news, I have been utilizing every moment available to 'get the ball rolling', and to say I am excited would be a dramatic understatement.

Anyways, I will leave it at that. After all, there is nothing like a little mystery to keep my readers alert and on edge.

STAY TUNED!!! :)

Introducing...... Modern Masquerade!

Hey all,

As the previous post stated, I have just completed the third practice photoshoot for my Studio Arts project.

Just incase you haven't read the previous post, for this photoshoot, I opted to go for a more modern maquerade look, with newer costumes and more flexible poses as you can see.

So, no use babbling on, after all, a picture tells a thousand words. Enjoy!

Update on the next Photo Shoot.

Hey there readers,

Just a quick update on the latest addition to the Masquerade photo shoot series.

As you may know if you have been following my blog regularly, I have been doing a series of photo shoots, involving masquerade masks.

Today, I done my third photo shoot, and opted for a different approach. Instead of taking photos in the old style dresses, I have experimented with more modern attire. Because of the clothing, the "Avant Guarde" poses were ditched, and the more natural (and a few planned) poses were adopted.

This was a trial run for the newer themed masquerade photos that will possibly be used in my final presentation.

Anyways,  please stay tuned for more, and keep an eye out for the photos popping up on my blog soon!

'Just Chillin' Out, Havin' Fun" Photos Shoot.

 Hey everyone,

Today in Studio Arts, we decided to just go out into the local environment and take some photos to see what works, and what doesn't. No make-up, No costumes, just us, the surrounding area and a whole lot of experimental fun.

I have composed a strip of 3 of my favourite images. I was happy that they turned out well, and the fun both the models and I were having, has been shown well.

Anyways, without further ado, here it is!!!

A big Thank You, once again, goes to the models. You girls were great!

I hope all you readers out there enjoy these photos, and stay turned for more!

Studio Arts 1.

Hey there readers,

As a few of you may already know, today was the first day that I have been taking test photos for my Studio Arts project. I am focusing on old style, my theme being 'Masquerade' and the photographs being set in both the traditional areas and the not-so-traditional environments - thus grabbing your attention and striking a different reaction.

I have been (and will continue to be) experimenting with different photos, poses, and effects. I will be posting some of the first trial photos soon. These photos are unedited (except for the blurring of names) and the costumes are not fully completed (with masks, etc)

A big Thank You goes to; the models - Mon and Nikki,
the Teacher - Rhi, and lastly the girls who have been helping with the dressing and photograph styling - Amelia and Susan.
THANK YOU GIRLS! <3

Be Sure to keep your eyes peeled for the photos, and please comment when the photos are available, so I can take the feedback into consideration for future shoots!

My Personal Development Project.

Hello there,

This post is a introduction into a Personal Development Project that I am required to complete for my schooling curriculum.

In order to receive the 'Certificate of Applied Learning' I have been working towards I was required to meet criteria for four things:

1. Complete a certificate in a specific field. I was entered into the Hospitality - Kitchen Operations course.
2. Successfully study numeracy and literacy.
3. Successfully study a work related skills subject -  'Industry and Enterprise.'
4.  Plan and execute a detailed event or activity.

For my project, I settled on holding a 'gold coin donation' games and activities day at my school for students in Prep to Grade 10. The day will not only act as a fun and exciting way for the students to get active and work together, but also to give much needed funds to charity.

I have been working on getting everything planned, assessed and scheduled so when the day comes around it will go off without a hitch.

My most recent focuses are researching places that may be able to donate small prizes, and  deciding on which charity to donate the profits from the day to.

I still have a lot to do, but I am confident that the day will be a success!

If you have any feedback or ideas for donations or charities, please don't hesitate to comment. Any feedback will be appreciated.

I hope to keep the blogging world up-to-date with new developments through more regular posts, so stay tuned!

Holidays :)

Hey everyone,
I hope you are all feeling great, and enjoying the life you live!
As I obviously don’t want to be forgotten over the holidays, I have been contemplating what to write about for days now, I have came to the conclusion that i would write briefly about my holidays so far, and the plans for the rest of the holidays.

~ Sleep-ins ~ Relaxing ~ Doing what you want, when you want ~
~IT IS THE HOLIDAY LIFE, BABY! And I am LOVING it! ~
It is so hard to believe that we are almost half way through the holidays, and time is going quick.  Before I know it, I will be, once again, walking to school everyday, spending those long hours with the same old people, it will be almost the same as last year, only a few different teachers and I am studying a few different classes.
Looking back on the time that has already passed these holidays, I honestly don’t know where all the time went, it feels like only yesterday was New Years and Christmas a few days earlier! Our family kept both Christmas and New Years ‘low-key’ this year, opting to just relax and catch up with family on our annual Boxing Day celebrations, where we exchange our presents, catch up with people and of course, eat a shared Christmas dinner. Our New Years was spent at a friends place, relaxing with their family under the ‘misty fan.’
A whole lot of my holidays so far have been taken up by doing homework, which doesn’t seem to me lessening any as I get more and more done. Luckily, I still have a couple of weeks to complete the piles of homework.
As for my plans tonight, it is the first game of mixed, indoor netball for the season. I am definitely looking forward seeing what this experience will bring, and meeting the new people that I will both play with, and against. So, good luck team!!!
The rest of the holidays will hopefully be spent catching up with some of my brilliant friends, hopefully camping with one of my best friends for her birthday. Playing sport, and keeping cool in the water is also high on the agenda, hopefully with the likes of swimming, skiing and kayaking.
Of course I cannot forget my trip to South Australia next week.  I have been looking forward to snorkelling off a reef there, and taking photos of underwater life, with my newly purchased underwater camera.
2012? BRING IT ON!!!

Happy New Year.

Hey everyone,

I hope you have had an awesome end to 2011 and an even better start to 2012.

During these past couple have days I have been mainly relaxing and trying to stay somewhat cool by taking advantage of the local swimming pool and our aircon.

Our New Year celebrations this year where rather low key. My parents and I spend the afternoon at a friend’s place swimming, relaxing and just catching up in general.

I wonder what this year will being, I hope it is amazing.  So, to try make this year amazing I have decided that rather then not have a New Year Resolution or make up something silly, I have set the goal to make this year as great as I can for myself, and not let silly things ruin it for me.

Did you guys set any resolutions? I would love to hear them.

I wish you all a very safe, happy and productive New Year.
